Abstract

The use of fossil fuels is increasing along with theincreasing number of people and industries. This can cause a fuel crisis. Therefore, it is necessary tofind alternative fuels that are cheaper and easier toobtain. Peat is one of the most widely used biomass fuelsfor energy and heating, especially in the EuropeanRegion. Peat is a unique fuel, because peat can be calledrenewable energy as well as non-renewable energy. Thisis because peat can recover in a long period of time. Thecharacteristics of peat which has a high carbon content, this is what makes peat has the potential to producealternative energy. This study describes the peatprocessing model as an alternative fuel. Some of themodels depicted are the processing models throughbriquette combustion, gasification and the use of methaneemissions. In addition, here also analyzes the impact ofprocessing peat as energy on the environment.
