Abstract

The main objective of this research work is to solve the cost optimization problem of electricity market using advanced optimization technique. The proposed technique is integration of oppositional based learning (OBL) technique with runner root algorithm (RRA) that enhances the capability of algorithm to solve the economic load dispatch (ELD) problem of power system. The developed technique is a nature based artificial algorithm that has competence of fast calculation and produce best optimal outcome while finding the solution of complex problem of cost optimization. In this study, planned method is applied on 15 unit bus system and the results obtained by proposed Oppositional Runner Root Algorithm (ORRA) method are being compared with RRA technique. By comparing these two techniques of optimization, the ORRA method is capable to attain the optimal value of the total generation cost of power system market.
