Abstract

As a significant bond of social development and environmental air pollution, industrial structure adjustment is one of major directions to solve the conflict of economic activities and air quality. As the capital of China, the air pollution prevention and control project of Beijing has entered a "deep water" period in 2020. Therefore, firstly, a comprehensive index based on the PCA is constructed in this article to depict the changes of air pollution situation in Beijing over the years. In addition, the grey correlation analysis method is used to portray the relationship between the industrial structure and air pollution situation of Beijing. The results indicate that among all the three major industries, the primary industry has the highest degree of correlation with air pollution. As for the secondary industries, Processing of Petroleum, Coking, Processing of Nuclear Fuel has the strongest correlation with air pollution emissions. Furthermore, the high-tech industry, specifically the Manufacture of Motor Vehicles and Manufacture of Medicines and Production, reveals a significant downward trend relationship with air pollution emissions in Beijing from 2004 to 2018. The research results show that promoting the development of the industrial structure in the direction of high-end and low-carbon in line with the functional positioning of the capital will be of great significance to the air pollution prevention of Beijing.
