Abstract

In this paper, the impact of artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) as a
metamaterial with micro strip patch antenna is presented for 5G applications. Fifth generation
(5G) is the state-of-the-art generation in communication. The antenna design utilizes double
layer structures with an artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) as the ground plane. The AMC
structures are constructed with square cells. The frequency and return loss are simulated over
2.7 GHz to 5.9 GHz. The proposed antenna is designed for frequency band of 2.7 GHz to 3.2
GHz using FR-4 Substrate which covers the one of sub-6 GHz band. The simulation of the
AMC structure and antenna were simulated using 3D EM solver
