Performance Evaluation And Competency Of Certified Teachers In Samarinda

Abstract

The role of teachers is very important in creating quality human resources. This
study is intended to map competencies comprehensively and determine the status of certified
teacher performance in Samarinda City, as well as to explore the problems and needs of
teachers in carrying out their duties. Mix method approach was adapted to collect the data,
Structured Interviews and surveys were conducted in 5 districts of Samrinda City. The main
approach to be used is a survey approach, observation, structured interviews and
questionnaires to respondents. The selection of research respondents was done by purposive
sampling. The results of research that were unearthed through observations and interviews
provide a fairly uniform picture. When grouped based on the problem the driving factors for
the emergence of positive performance of certified teachers are caused by improved teacher
welfare, increase in teacher work motivation, increased responsibility and improvement of
work culture. The findings recommends to the policy makers, teachers and school leaders to
take steps to sustain the quality and productivity of the teachers by certifications.
