Shifting Causes of Divorce in Indonesia Due to Social Media In Sociological Perspective

Abstract

Social media makes it easy for Indonesians to communicate and access various information, but not all social media use is done positively to leave problems, one of which can lead to divorce. Divorce caused by social media is social media to blame?. The purpose of this study is to analyze social media as the cause of divorce from a sociological perspective. This research uses qualitative research methods with a phenomenological approach, research data processing is done using NVivo 12 Plus. The results showed that negative use of social media can be the cause of divorce in the family, the existence of social media can record traces of infidelity by couples resulting in continuous conflict, this is the reason couples are suing for divorce. Based on the finding that the problem lies not in social media, but in people who use social media negatively. The phenomenon of divorce caused by social media indicates a state of dysfunction of the role of the family so that it can cause disharmony, therefore there need to be efforts to strengthen the resilience of the family by strengthening the function of family members and impacting on the resilience of the nation.
