Abstract

Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) calls for a holistic approach towards social, economic and environmental aspects of an organization with the aim to improve the performance.Considerable number oforganizations today, including manufacturing establishments in UAE, are undertaking SSCM practices to improve their customer awareness and supplier commitment which believed to affect the overall company performance. This study aims to investigate the impact of customer awareness and supplier commitment as related to SSCM on the companies’ performance in manufacturing sector in United Arab Emirates. A survey of 108 employees was undertaken across 5 manufacturing organizations using a close-ended questionnaire. The results indicated that both supplier commitment and customer awareness positively and significantly affect organizational performance of manufacturing companies using SSCM. Further studies in this domain can explore other factors that affect organizational performance with respect to their social, economic and environmental impact.
