Abstract

—In today’s world, we are facing glaring issue of traffic everywhere. Vehicle surveillance over a
large area allows us to draw conclusions about the traffic patterns. The rapid progress in the field of remote
sensing has enabled us to make use of satellite imaging for wider angle surveillance. Thus the traffic
management could be done by using high resolution satellite images and by using image processing one
could obtain a real time analysis of the traffic over a large area. This paper explores techniques developed to
detect vehicle density and identify vehicular movement on the streets using satellite imaging by applying kth
-
Nearest-Neighbour, Linear Regression models, and Support Vector Machine, thereby optimizing the traffic
management system
