A PILOT PROJECT ON DEVELOPING PEDAGIGICAL SKILLS AND TRANSORMING INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA AT VFSTRU

Abstract

The aim of this pilot study is to develop pedagogical, communication and presentation Skills
along with transformation of instructional medium of trained teachers.The trainees who completed their
Bachelor of Education Degree in Telugu medium were selected from different methodologies. Out of the
total 57 appeared for the Entrance Test, 20 Teacher Trainees were finally selected and inducted for
undergoing training programme.We trained them for over a period of 100 days in Socio-Psychological
Perspectives of Education, Pedagogy and Developmental Skills. An Action cum Evaluation Research
Methodology was applied during Pre and Post Tests of teacher trainees and evaluated on the criterions like
Mentor’s Evaluation, (E1), Final Evaluation (E2), Self-appraisal of the individual (E3) and a School Study
Project (E4). In the present pilot study, theoverall performance of the teacher trainees was significantly
improved, and performance of Male students was better in E1 criterion whereas the female trainees’
performance was excellent in E2, E3 and E4. It is also observed that urban trainees performance was better
than rural students in all the four criterions. Finally, it is also observed that Maths methodology trainees
performance was excellent in criteria-E1, Physical Science students performance was better in criteria E2,
both Maths and Physical Science teacher trainees performance was equally good in E3 and finally Physical
Science students was extra ordinary in comparison with Maths and Social Science trainees in project work -
