Transformational Leadership and Effective Communication Predicting Team Effectiveness of Employees in the Retail Business

Abstract

The objectives of this study were: 1) to study relationship between transformational leadership and team effectiveness; 2) to study relationship between effective communication and team effectiveness; 3) to predict team effectiveness with transformational leadership and effective communication. The participants were 452 employees in retail business. The instrument employed in the study was a questionnaire. The statistic used to analyze data were Pearson Product Moment Correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that 1) there was a positive relationship between transformational leadership and team effectiveness with a statistical significance at .01 level; 2) there was a positive relationship between effective communication and team effectiveness with a statistical significance at .01 level; and 3) transformational leadership and effective communication accounted for 69.10 percent of variance in team effectiveness of employees in retail business.
