Abstract

Increasing industries and luxurious lifestyles demanding high amount of electricity nowadays. To meet customer load demand, power loss should be minimized. Consequently, most of research focusing on this issue to meet the challenge. Appropriate allocation of distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) and photovoltaic (PV) array in a radial distribution system reduces power loss, improve voltage profile values and increases system stability. According to this soft computing techniques came into picture to reduce power loss to maximum level. However, the novelty is important in every research. An Improved Lightning Search Algorithm (ILSA) has been proposed for determining proper location to obtain their maximum potential benefits under various loading conditions. Among various optimization algorithm, ILSA has been greatly attained its objectives. Reduced power loss from this optimization technique has been compared with other optimization techniques. The numbers show that ILSA method for sitting of DSTATCOM and PV array in a Distribution networks for various load condition is highly suitable than other techniques. Linear feeder load is applied to the system with a step size of 1%. Simulation results are given to verify the proposed ILSA using MATLAB platform with IEEE 30-bus distribution system.
