Digital Payment Adoption During Pandemic in India
Abstract
The Government of India has announced a nationwide lockdown in four phases from the 24th of March 2020 in India due to the eradication and elimination of COVID-19 from the country. The essential services including the food industry, petrol pumps, banks, and ATMs are exempted from Lockdown. Citizens of the country were had no other choice rather than staying at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. The social divide and physical contact avoidance were major measures to escape from the COVID-19 virus. In every corner of the world the use of digital transaction and electronic cash transfer is being promoted. The empirical study was aimed to investigate the significant predictors of behavioral intention and innovation resistance on digital payment usage in a pandemic. The study was adopted an empirical research design to the online survey method to gather the perception of digital payment users in the study area. The results indicate that significant positive predictor of digital payment use would be perceived stability, dimension does not provide a significant impact on digital payment use. Further, digital payment usage should be encouraged to avoid needless approach for deposit, social gap execution to create a positive attitude among citizens of the country towards the adoption of cashless economy
