Temperature Control In Plastic Extrusion Using Gaussian Offset Opposition Based Whale Optimization Algorithm

Abstract

Plastic extrusion is a process extensively used in many industries. The process deals with the system for controlling the temperature in different zones of the extrusion process. A variety of controllers for temperature control in extruder barrel is presented; such as PID controllers, Fuzzy controllers, ANFIS controllers, predictive controllers and optimized PID controllers. In this work, an optimized model predictive controller is proposed. For optimizing the variables in the controller,Gaussian offset opposition basedwhale optimization algorithm is presented. The performance of the proposed work is analyzed by designing the controller in MATLAB Simulink software. The metrics are compared with the conventional controller and it is proved that the error in the proposed controller is less.
