DETERMINANT FACTORS OF KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT ON SMALL FARMER COMMUNITY IN AGRICULTURE CLUSTER AREA

Abstract

When the world is at our fingertips, the new generation of students appear to be more technology
driven towards electronic devices usage in their daily life. The smartphones and smart electronic devices are
fast improving with the advancement of the new generation of android devices. In addition, some devices
are built specifically for Augmented Reality (AR). The 21st century learning approach advocates the
integratioKnowledge Management (KM) is crucial in contributing greatly to the problem solving in order
to increase competitiveness, value added and innovation in the organization. KM is still dominated by
business organizations for the effectiveness and efficiency of the organizational system operations, but
agriculture organizations also need KM for knowledge access and management of smallholders innovations
to have the ability to continue to survive the current globalization. This research aims to identify determinant
fKnowledge Management (KM) is crucial in contributing greatly to the problem solving in order
to increase competitiveness, value added and innovation in the organization. KM is still dominated by
business organizations for the effectiveness and efficiency of the organizational system operations, but
agriculture organizations also need KM for knowledge access and management of smallholders innovations
to have the ability to continue to survive the current globalization. This research aims to identify determinant
factors in the implementation of KM and the efforts to build KM of smallholders communities in
agricultural cluster areas. In order to achieve research objectives, the research stages of field data collection,
in-depth interviews, focus group discussion and the Delphi method are surveying and collecting opinions
from experts on the topic of KM. Research results show that there are related factors and determinants in the
implementation of KM in the agricultural cluster area including: organizational culture, motivation,
communication, group work, leadership and benchmarking. In addition, efforts to build KM smallholders
are conducted through synergy and collaboration among stakeholders including farmer group, local
government, Nagari government, higher education.
