Abstract

This research paper aims to identify the underlying factors of the dimensions of talent
management practices (compensation management, career management and training) and the dimension of
job attitude (organizational commitment) through exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The study was
conducted on a sample of 170 employees working in one of the major Public Sector utility of India related to
thermal power generation. A self -reported questionnaire was designed based on the adopted scales from the
previous studies with 38 items pertaining to the four constructs and responses were collected on a five-point
Likert scale. The collected data was further analyzed using the SPSS-23 version of IBM software and
applying the statistical technique of EFA with varimax rotation to establish the validity of scales in the target
population. The reliability of the scales was also established by finding the Cronbach’s alpha value, which
was well above 0.7 for each construct. This empirical study justified the factors identified through the
qualitative literature review.
