Abstract

In This paper a multi drive system with common power converter is considered. For the multi-drive system, two
induction motors with voltage source inverter is fed from common rectifier is connected. The effectiveness of both the
system is analysed. First, the impact of unequal loading on the parallel drives system is analysed, and then a scheme
is developed to improve the power quality of the grid system so that efficiency can be improve and harmonics can be
removed from the distribution system. Front end is used for converting AC to DC which is given to Variable
Frequency Converter for converting DC to AC which is fed to the motor system. To remove the harmonics due the
rectifier, a shunt active power filter is implemented. The results obtained for the individual drive system and two
drive system is discussed and analysed.
