Significant Factors to motivate SME-based Construction Firms to implement ISO 9001:2015 in the Residential Buildings in Laguna

Abstract

It is not an easy process to motivate small and medium enterprises (SME) construction company to implement numerous management systems, particularly if they do not understand the advantages of this modern process-based management system. Increasingly, in SME the introduction of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Control Framework is a steady development in the building industry. In comparison to neighboring Asian and Western states with which ISO 9001:2015 was born, the level of understanding and preparation for the Philippines construction industry weak. The aim of this study to recognize the significant factors which will contribute to the adoption of ISO 9001:2015 by SME-based construction companies in the Philippines. A field research was carried out in the Philippines on SME construction enterprises and out of the 613 SME construction companies based in LAGUNE areas, the number of 139 respondents have been surveyed. The finding shows that (1) If the client is needed, (2) Eligibility in bidding and (3) To maximize costuming satisfaction, are the key factors that will inspire SME-based construction companies to adopt ISO 9001:2015. Consequently, on the basis of findings and conclusions, customers as a part of the accreditation of the SME-based construction companies and eligible for bidding must be certified to ISO 9001:2015 by an approved reviewer.
