Abstract

The paper aims to develop a smart home and implementation of Energy saving algorithm. We have designed the
following systems to be implemented as a part of smart home. A Smart device can control, switch and monitor the
load through cloud computing [2]. Designing of smart home and energy saving algorithm done by simulation
concept by testing system, network configuration, and wireless home gateway computer network equipment required
by a smart home network on cisco packet tracer using Web of Things. All the parameters such as Current, Voltage
and Load profile of the home from the domestic loads are collected and those respective data will be sent to the
user’s end device. Controlling and monitoring multiple electronic devices by the smartphones based on predefined
configuration conditions. As a Unique html code is coded into the raspberry pi OS to display the Graphical user
interface (Web page, Android applications…) on the smartphone using the Web page user can able to control three
different range of loads like Iron box, Air conditioner, Fan. Energy conservation is the core concept of the project.
Different load profiles are obtained based on real time application and a comparative analysis is performed to prove
the conservation of energy. Smart homes provide appreciable energy savings for consumers as well as benefits for
the energy system. Currently, the application, design and implementation of smart home technologies is still limited
due to cost basis and only certain number of peoples can able to afford it. There are a number of barriers
constraining are needed to eliminate. Loss of privacy, Data theft, Lack of awareness, complexity, population,
availability are some of the barriers of smart homes.
