Antibiofilm Activity Using Epoxy Nanocomposite Coatings Against Staphylococcus Aureus And Escherichia Coli

Abstract

The anti-biofilm activity is confirmed by crystal violet binding assays. Crystal violet binding assay using AgTiO2 NPs against biofilms showed about 85% inhibition in Epoxy/AgTiO2. This indicates that the effective dispersion and optimal release of biocidal agents was responsible for anti-biofilm activity of the surface. The present investigation shows that silver-titanium dioxide nanoparticles synthesized using ethanolic Aloe vera leaves extract and aqueous Psidium guajava leaves extract (unpublished data) have good potential against biofilm producing micro-organisms Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichiacoli
