Abstract

This project is based on the matrix converter topology which converts high level AC to low level AC. It uses bidirectional
switches which are connected to a diode bridge. As compared to a cyclo converter, the number of controlled components in
the rectifier is reduced in the matrix converter topology. Here, voltage and current are taken as parameters for the
feedback loop. The use of fuzzy logic helps us compare the practical values to the experimental values and subsequent
output waveforms are produced after comparing. Thus, varying loads for induction heating can be obtained by varying the
frequency of the supply. The need of a matrix converter is to reduce or avoid the use of bulky components such as a DC link
as the conversion here is done in single stage. Thus, we help improve the efficiency and reliability of the model.
