Abstract

With the continuous improvement of China’s international status, an increasing number of people worldwide are eager to know about Chinese-specific language and culture. Chinese-specific words are a kind of special language phenomenon which is deeply rooted in Chinese culture. According to Venuti’s theory, the aim of translation is to present the linguistic and cultural differences of source language in target language, and send readers to the country of source language to experience the exotic flavor of the culture of that country. This paper explores strategies of translation of vocabulary with Chinese characteristic based on the Deconstructionism theory that has great influence on the field of translation, in hope of shedding some valuable enlightenment on spreading Chinese language and culture.
