Abstract

Cinema is one of the most significant cultural and economic pillars in any society. The development of this art industry in many countries has led to cinema playing a crucial role in their economic growth and gross domestic growth. Despite its long history of having a cinema, Iran has not undergone much development in this field. The present study aimed to identify the economic factors affecting the economic development of cinema in Iran. In this qualitative research, the theoretical foundations associated with art and cinema were overviewed and then, an analytical, descriptive, and survey methodology was used to examine the economic factors impacting the development of cinema in Iran. Research findings indicated that building standard theatres such as Pardis cinemas, adequate financing, attracting private and public capitals and funding, movies entering the world market, and attracting foreign investments were the most important economic factors influencing cinema in Iran.
