Abstract

In this problem we deals with the effect of penny shaped crack on the distribution of thermal stresses in a transversely isotropic solid. The main interest in this problem is to formulate the problem concerned with the determination of the component of the stress and displacement in a transversely isotropic elastic material. In this problem we find the stress intensity factor with the help of boundary conditions. We use power series method for solving the penny shaped crack to the radius of the externally cracked region. The variation of displacement and stress intensity factors are evaluated numerically for different values of c and are shown graphically.
