Abstract

Siltation of the reservoir is caused by sedimentation in its bowl of sediment coming from the liquid flow
of the river feeding the reservoir, as well as solid material entering the reservoir as a result of erosion of its
banks and bottom. Deposits formed in the reservoir during its siltation form the so-called siltation body [1].
The main factor of siltation is considered to be sediment runoff. Sediment transport and deposition in the
reservoir are largely determined by the flow structure and turbulence of water masses.
When studying and calculating siltation of reservoirs, a number of indicators are used that link certain
parameters of the reservoir with the hydrological characteristics of the corresponding river basin and the
conditions for sediment accumulation in the reservoir.
