Abstract

Strengthening and rehabilitating of concrete structures have recently attracted considerable research attention due to their high costs and requirements of extended time and increased efforts for reconstruction and/or destructive tests. Numerical analysis has also gained increasing interest because of the remarkable progress in computer processing speed. A numerical simulation was performed on reinforced concrete slabs with different steel reinforcement ratios in this study. Slab strengthening with carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) was investigated using an FE model. Different strengthening schemes and fibre orientations were considered, and results showed that the use of CFRP modifies the maximum capacity of slabs with minimal change in ductility
