Abstract

Groundwater quality should be evaluated at frequent interval in order to ensure the cropproduction rate (CPR). Thus, the main objective of the present study is to analyze the existinggroundwater quality in Channasandra Region (Study Area), Bangalore urban, suitable toirrigation purpose and design IoT based automated groundwater treatment unit. Eighteengroundwater samples are collected from open/bore wells which are aligned with the studyarea during pre and post monsoon periods of 2018 and evaluated for six physicochemicalproperties (pH, Chloride “Cl-”, Total Hardness “TH”, Calcium “Ca+2”, Magnesium “Mg+2”and Nitrate “NO3-”). Obtained results are verified with permissible and desirable valuessuitable for irrigation purpose. Spatial distribution of these parameters is developed throughArcGIS software under IDW interpolation technique. Based on the experimental result, “TH”and “Cl-” is varying abruptly beyond the permissible limits both in pre and post monsoonperiods. Different dosage of fly ash i.e., 5% 10% & 15 % per litre is introduced throughgroundwater treatment process which results in maximum of 10% reduction from originalconcentration of “pH, TH, Cl- and Specific Ions” at 15% dosage of fly ash. Appropriategroundwater treatment unit is designed with IoT based automation system to increase theCPR.
