Abstract

The idea behind our project is as follows the efficient operation of the turbine depends on the
condenser. One of the way we found in our careful study of the plant is to optimize the condenser and
cooling tower.
The condenser is a heat exchanging device, which is used to condense the steam. While condensing the
steam, scales are formed on the inner surface of the condenser tube. Scaling in the condenser reduces the
heat transfer rate and hence the vacuum in the condenser tends to be poor. The heat transfer performance
was studied before annual maintenance, the water circulating between the condenser and cooling tower is
treated with the chemicals or bio-absorbants to reduce the scale formations on the condenser tubes to
improve the performance of the condenser and cooling tower operation.
