The Quality of Life bases of Suitable Things for Mental Development of Monks in Khon Kaen Province, Thailand

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study and compare the quality of life bases of suitable things for mental development of monks in Khon Kaen Province, Thailand. This was a quantitative research. For data collection, a questionnaire was conducted with 400 monks in Khon Kean Provinve. The data were statistically analyzed using frequency distribution, percentage, standard deviation, t test and F test or One Way ANOVA. The findings of the study were as follows: 1) The overall score of the quality of life bases of suitable things for mental development (P?li: Sapp?yadhamma) of monks in Khon Kaen Province, Thailand was at high level( = 3.69, S.D. = 0.72), when the scores of each aspect were considered, it found that the average statistic scores of opinions in the aspects of suitable food (P?li: Av?sasapp?ya) ( = 3.81, S.D. = 0.90) suitable person (P?li: Puggalasapp?ya) ( = 3.80, S.D. = 0.85) suitable teaching (P?li: Dhammasapp?ya) ( = 3.58, S.D. = 0.87) suitable food (P?li: Ah?rasapp?ya) ( = 3.55, S.D. = 0.72). 2) Monks with the differences in ages, age of ordination, level of education, level of education in Buddhist teaching and living area showed their opinions towards the quality of life bases of suitable things for mental development (P?li: Sapp?yadhamma) differently with the statistical significance level at 0.05. This accepted the set hypothesis. Those with differences in level of education in Pali language and status showed indifferent opinions. This denied the set hypothesis.
