Exploration of Road Indices of Coimbatore City

Abstract

The structure of a city is more decided by the road network which connects the various location
of a city and brings out a network within the city. The network analysis brings out the various solutions
related to routing problem, traffic flow and accessibility issues. This paper explores the road indices of
Coimbatore city which is an inevitable factor for network analysis. . Road indices help in identifying
optimum locations for services to be provided within the city. The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation
(CMC) was selected for map network analysis using different road indices. Coimbatore city is one of the
prominent cities in the stream of development in Tamil Nadu. This paper provides the analysis and
comparison of various road indices of each zone and the outcome results are inferred for study of
Coimbatore urban planning. This paper concludes the identification of highly burn and undeveloped Zones.
