Abstract

The Leap Motion is used to replicate the physical state of the user’s hands in real time. The precision of the positions, directions, and movements of the fingers is remarkable. It is run through a dedicated software in the background, continuously reading the states of what the device can see. The creators have developed various ways on how to read these values in real time. This research shows us how we can capture the Javascript Object Notation (JSON) stream into the MATLAB workspace for further parsing and decomposing into usable forms for gesture-based applications.
