“Bawon” as Social Wisdom of Indigenous People of Kampung Naga, Indonesia

Abstract

Bawon is a part of the harvest given by the ricefield owner to the harvesters. The
purpose of this research is to reveal the meanings of social wisdom of "bawon" for the
indigenous people at Kampung Naga, Tasikmalaya, Indonesia. The informants are farmers,
customary leaders, and cooperative heads at Kampung Naga. The data were collected
through direct observation and in-depth interviews. The data were analyzed by interactive
models, data display, data reduction, and conclusion. The results indicate that; "Bawon" has
some meanings related to the local social wisdom for the indigenous people at Kampung
Naga; they are (a) mutualism (b) kinship (c) togetherness; (d) equal distribution
