Identification of Fake News Using Machine Learning Techniques

Abstract

— Nowadays average news consumption from non-traditional sources like social media, blogs has
increased in humongous ways. Earlier people used to rely on one source which was trusted for years but
now with ever-growing media, it is very hard for a user to trust. Fake news and hoaxes are easily spread
through these non-traditional sources and people trust it. Also, the content published is either for making a
public figure/community appear good or to turn the masses against them. So this paper will act as an
intermediary. With the help of machine learning and neural networks, we are going to determine the
credibility of the source. This semi-supervised detection system will exploit all the sources and will help the
reader.
