Abstract

The abnormality in the blood glucose level leads to diabetic symptoms. To bring the blood
glucose level to normality, diet restrictions are followed along with regular intake of prescribed
medicines. Insulin injection is given to diabetic patients to control the blood glucose level. In this
research, the behavior of diabetic human sera samples and healthy serum samples is studied using
FTIR and UV-VISIBLE techniques. Curve fitting method is used for the trend of absorbance
variation with frequency for the active glucose regions of FTIR and UV bands. It is observed that
there is an absorbance shift (either increasing or decreasing depending upon the absorption
regions) in FTIR and UV-VIS spectra between the pre-treatmental subject and post-treatmental
diabetic subject.
