Abstract

Study was conducted to identify the plant-parasitic nematodes on Carica papaya L. in Indang and
Trese Martires, Cavite, Philippines showing above-ground symptoms of nematode infestation. Soil samples’ N,
Pand K content and pH were colorimetrically analyzed while its texture was identified through feel and roll
method. The nematodes from roots and soil samples were extracted using Baermann-tray method. The results
revealed that Helicotylenchus spp., Rotylenchus spp., Rotylenchulus spp. and Tylenchus spp. are the Genus
associated with C. papaya. The physico-chemical analaysis obtained did not found to be associated with the
number of plant parasitic nematodes obtained in the samples.
