Abstract

In this research, the Radon concentrations and radiological indicators were calculated the annual effective dose, risk of lung cancer and potential Alpha Energy in dust samples for most of Areas in Diwaniyah City - Qadisiyah Governorate of Iraq by using CR-39 in the advanced nuclear laboratory - Physics Department - College of Education for Pure Sciences / Ibn Al-Haytham - University of Baghdad. The results obtained indicate that the radon concentration is within range (143.5± 5.3- 243.8± 24.7) Bq / m3 The annual effective dose within the range (3.62 - 6.15) mSv/Y and the lung cancer risk index were within the range (65.17-110.73) and the potential alpha energy Concentration index recorded values ??within the range (0.0155- 0.0263 ) WL, although these results are within the universally accepted level, except if the accumulation of these doses over a long period of time may have negative effects on human health.
