The Influence of Motivation and Social Support on Lecturer Performance and Job Satisfaction as Mediating Variable in a Private University in Bandung, Indonesia

Abstract

Lecturer is a profession that have dominant role in the advancement of a country. Lecturers are
required to perform well in order to enhanced the quality of man power and ultimately increase
the competitiveness of a nation. The intent of this study is to discover the factors that affect
lecturer performance. Based on literature review, social support and motivation and job
satisfaction will affect lecturer performance. The research method used in this research is
quantitative method. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to 150 respondents
who were taken through simple random sampling. The results showed that there was a
relationship between social support and motivation and job satisfaction on lecturer performance.
Job satisfaction was confirmed to become a variable that mediate the relationship between
motivation and performance.
