Abstract

In the Philippines, government institutional dairy farms such as the Dairy Cattle Research and
Development Center at Cagayan State University-Piat Campus (CSU-PIAT Dairy Center)have been
established primarily as dairy incubators and extension services providerto enhance the skills,
technologies and management capabilities of dairy cooperatives and entrepreneurs in dairy production,
processing, and marketing. Established in 2015, the Dairy Cattle Research and Development Center
started with just 25 heads of Holstein Friesian cows and the number has increased over the years.
Managing the increasing number of livestocknecessitates a detailed and careful records keeping process.
This study was then conducted aimed to design, develop and implement a Record Keeping System
(RKS) for the Dairy Center of CSU Piat Campus.Using the Waterfall Model of system development, the
system utilized the data gathered from the Dairy Center such as animals in breeding, production,
feeding, health, mortality, sale, expenditure and profit records and milk production.
The development of the system resulted in a well- organized, uniformed, and easy to search
records. Specifically, the records keeping system developed easily saved and searched the information
needed to ensure efficient operation of the Dairy Center. It may also be emphasized that the most
effective way to have a good process in record keeping is to have organized manual operations aside
from a computerized system to automate it.
