Abstract

Purpose: This research work focuses to develop and initiate a significant framework proposal for staff and employees who work in petroleum industry mainly in Malaysia upstream sector. The research work investigates the dimensional effects of safety culture and psychosocial hazard on employee’s safety performance at the workplace.

Methodology: A questionnaire will be conducted for data collection. Using an administrated questionnaire approach, questionnaires will be sent to staff who work at oil and gas upstream sector. To distribute the questionnaires, a stratified sampling with a Likert 5-point scale will be used. Subsequently, proposed model will be evaluated using the structural equation modelling, along with (PLS-SEM) the partial least squares.

Findings: The magnificent outcome of this research study will be beneficial as a supportive tool that can guide employees in conducting more safety training that will eliminate or reduce incidents incident while working. The goal of any organisation is to prevent accidents during work.

Practical Implications: This review is mainly concerned with the improvement of safety performance and its impact on psychosocial hazard and safety culture. The actual culture of safety should play a significant role in safety performances at the workplace. The effectiveness of safety culture among workers and leaders will surely assist in reducing the risks of psychosocial hazard.

Value of originality: Few literatures have concentrated deeply concentrated on employees’ safety culture that examined and studied the impact on better safety performance. Therefore, there is a deficiency in overcoming occupational psychosocial hazard. This study focuses and evaluates the effects of psychosocial hazard and safety culture on employees’ safety performance at the workplace
