Abstract

This research highlighted the quandary of Malaysian viewers on internet streaming with Netflix content. Malaysia has diverse regulation overseeing the operation of media in the printing, telecommunications and broadcasting domains. The 1998 Communications and Multimedia Act, nevertheless, would not place a filter on the internet and has allowed the digital media environment with a democratic atmosphere. This liberty caused a media uproar about the Netflix platform’s content. As one of the world’s largest media providers of over-the-top (OTT), Netflix supported the publications and aggregated content of publishers from multiple nations, which were not in compliance with the Malaysian content management procedure. The results of the study established adult perspectives and perceptions on Netflix’s motives of subscription, the connection between internet and Netflix programs, and the viewers’ understanding of Malaysia’s regulatory and censorial principles. In essence, this study would present many recommendations.
