Abstract

In an effort to uphold the national education system through the national curriculum benchmark at
the international level, Malaysia is among the countries that have taken the initiative to implement
the Middle Years Program International Baccalaureate in 10 government schools of various
backgrounds. The program aims to develop the potential of globally minded students in creating a
better and harmonious environment. The implementation of MYPIB is expected to train students to
be active, humane and foster their interest in lifelong learning. Therefore, this self-reflective study is
based on my involvement and experience in managing the program. The success of these 10 schools
in making changes and being recognized as IB World Schools after a rigorous verification process by
the International Baccalaureate Organization has inspired me. Although such studies are limited,
reflective elements are very useful in analyzing individual strengths and weaknesses. This reflection
is based on the Gibbs Reflection Cycle Model (1988) which has six stages, namely explanation,
feeling, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and action.
