An impact of Emotional Intelligence on the preliminary perceptions of student employment experience

Abstract

Every year several freshers get absorbed from various universities, yet only a few are able to
climb the corporate ladder. The reason is obvious, yet it isn’t. Clearly IQ scores, GPA and other standard
examinations which test on logics, memory & reasoning are not the only indicators of efficiency.
Emotional Intelligence forms the basis for perceptions & behaviors under various circumstances.
Sustenance and growth issues of qualified freshers in corporate- race, calls for a study on relation to EI
and forms the rationale of this study. A survey research on Emotional intelligence & employment
perception was carried out on a sample of 202 freshers working in various industries. The data is
analyzed in AMOS & SPSS using various inferential statistics. The results show a relation between
Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction, whereas gender doesn’t play a role in employment
perception. The paper implies that irrespective of gender there is a need for developing Emotional
Intelligence in freshers for a better employment perception.
