Abstract

In this, paper aims to study the blast resistance analysis of column by using a software
ABAQUS® 3-D model as Explicit dynamic analysis(EDA). It aims to study the behavior of the
strength of the column by using composite materials. Previously used materials are composite wraps
and steel jackets are CFRP, FRP, SFRC, GFRP etc, In this paper it aims to use a new composite
material as light weight foam and steel jackets to retrofit the column and to observe the column
strength. The current thesis is focused on the analysis of column by conducting Non-linear dynamic
analysis(NLDA) of bare column and retrofitted column with light weight foam by using CONWEP
loading method, then after Non-linear dynamic analysis(NLDA) of bare column and retrofitted
column with light weight foam by using CEL method is also carried out, later on finally conclude the
study of comparison of and CONWEP and CEL methods.
