Abstract

The increasing exploitation of natural resources for our benefits has lead to increase in natural calamities. Every year thousands of lives are lost and damages to houses and businesses take place due to natural disasters. And flood is one of the most terrifying natural disasters which can lead to heavy loss of life and can create economic hardships for people. Floods occur due to seasonal change in precipitation patterns or overflow of dam and rivers submerging huge area of land. Floods can cause significant effect on economic activities like agriculture, tourist?s activities, sewage systems and roadways etc. In case of floods clean water gets combined with sewage water which can cause risk of getting water borne diseases. There is a need to research on how flood disaster warning system can be designed more efficiently. Many researches have been done in which different sensors have been employed, some have used computer vision technology and image processing to measure water level and warn the officials in case water level exceeds the threshold level. But the proposed methods are not that much effective in every condition. Taking into account the limitations, this paper aims to exploit state of the art technology like IoT and the emerging future development in mobile networks i.e 5G.The future 5G network can be very efficient in transmitting data to warn the officials about any emergency situation with high data rate. Other than this, Blockchain technology which provides significant boon to the field of technology has been employed to ensure data stored in cloud server is not tampered with. Also for data analysis machine learning algorithm has been used for more accurate prediction.
