Abstract

Al 7075 alloys are widely used in aerospace applications due to their high strength to weight
ratio. The reinforcement particles like SiC are added to the Al 7075 alloy to increase its creep strength.
In this research work, the creep behaviour of Al7075 + SiC composites were carried out using
impression creep technique. The creep tests were carried out under a constant punching stress of 250
MPa at temperatures (200-300?), for dwell times up to 3hrs, for prepared composites containing
different weight percentages of SiC (2-10%). The obtained results conclude that creep deformation is
dependent on weight percentage of SiC and temperature. The results obtained in this research work
are very useful to the aerospace industries.
