Abstract

In the recent years, load scenario of distribution system has changed a lot due to
tremendous increase in load distribution, increase in renewable distribution generation, addition of
solar power plants by residential and industrial customers and erection of large electric vehicle
charging stations. A deeper study on voltage stability aspect with respect to distribution system is
growing demand. Any unplanned contingency can put the system security and reliability in risk. In
this paper, work is carried out to study the contingency analysis on 15 bus radial rural electrification
feeder system. A new algorithm is proposed that would predict the location and amount of load to be
reduced to improve the voltage stability and reliability of distribution system. The proposed method is
implemented on 15 bus radial system and results indicate the system voltage stability is improved
with the implementation of the above method. MATLAB is used for developing and implementation
of the algorithm.
