Abstract

High-frequency(HF) carrier voltage is the most commonly used rotor position detection method for interior permanent magnet synchronous machines (IPMSM) in low speed operation. A new rotor position detection by injecting a rotating HF carrier voltage into an estimated synchronous reference coordinate system is proposed. The different with the common HF rotating carrier voltage injection method is that the proposed method demodulates the HF response signal in the estimated synchronous reference coordinate system. The response signal does not contain the rotor angle, but contains the rotor angle error, so the heterodyne method can be omitted in extracting the rotor position information using phase-locked loop(PLL). Then the error expression caused by cross-saturation effect is analyzed and the error expression is given. In order to calculate the estimation error, an on-line identification method of inductance parameters is proposed. The simulation and experimental wave form on an motor demonstrate that the new proposed rotating HF carrier voltage injection method can achieve the effect of algorithm theory when the motor speed and load change, it has good robustness.
