Triple Helix Model for Preparing Student’s Competencies of Private Vocational High Schools to Enter the Industries

Abstract

The development of technology requires vocational students to have skills, so that they are able to overcome existing problems, namely the lack of competency of students in accordance with industry demand. The purpose of this study is to explore the triple helix model which is used in industrial internships in vocational education. The research method used a qualitative approach to the type of case study research. Based on the results of data analysis, the research findings show that the triple helix model implemented in Private Vocational High Schools accredited A Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008 has met expectations with 65%-75% graduates in the national industries, respectively. However, ongoing evaluation needs to be done to form qualified and competitive Private Vocational High Schools graduates in the global job market.
