Abstract

Pinggan Village is a village from Bali Aga that is located in the Kintamani, Bali Indonesia. This village adheres to the village spatial pattern formed from the ancient Bali, which has a village main road stretching out in the middle of the village. As a Bali Aga locate, this village also contains a long historical record that is closely related to the arrival of Chinese traders who finally settled in this area. The direction of village orientation that is not absolute refers to the east-west and north-south axes such as villages in Bali in general to provide preliminary evidence that this cold village has a specific village concept. Village characteristics of this kind further encourage the idea of ??conducting an in-depth spatial study of the conceptual basis of the spatial village of Pinggan. This research belongs to a qualitative research group based on the study of field data, concepts, and interviews. This research produced findings: (1) Pinggan Village adheres to a linear village pattern that follows the contour of the hilly area in the Kintamani area; (2) settlement area is in the middle of the village following the main village road in the middle of the village. The village of Pinggan also adopts the ulu-teben orientation pattern which divides the village into sacred and profane directions; and (3) the concept of the direction of ulu-teben such as this has implications for most of the spatial and residential structures in this village.
