Psychological Well-Being and Resilience as Predictors of Entrepreneurial Success among Micro Enterprises

Abstract

Entrepreneurial success of the micro enterprises is important since it enhances
economic health of the State. Promoting entrepreneurs create social change. When their
ventures are successful, they contribute towards increased standard of living. It is important
to identify the factor which influences the healthy growth of the micro enterprises. The
psychological well-being at work leads better quality of life and resilience helps to adapt and
cope up with stressors. The strength of the entrepreneur helps the business to grow. The study
measured the Psychological well-being at work, the resilience and the entrepreneurial success
among microenterprises and later examined whether Psychological well-being at work and
resilience predict entrepreneurial success. Forty microenterprises participated in the study and
online data were collected using three standardized tools. The authors have used descriptive
and inferential statistics - Linear regression for analysis. The study findings have partially
accepted the postulated main hypothesis - The two independent variables – Psychological
well being at work and Resilience are predictors of the entrepreneurial success of Micro
enterprises and the sub hypotheses. Entrepreneur Satisfaction increases if interpersonal fit at
work and perceived recognition at work increase. It is further observed that the dimension
Relation with Environment increases if Resilience increases as well as when the Perceived
recognition of work increases. Pro-social activity dimension increases when perceived
recognition at work and desire for involvement at work and resilience increases. Firm
credibility increases if interpersonal fit at work, thriving at work, feeling of competency at
work and resilience increase.
