Abstract

Folklore as a cultural ontology is an Oral tradition to circulate the existence of our
being, popular myths and beliefs of a cultural demography. It continues as a cultural heritage
retained by forthcoming generations. Chhattisgarh state reflects the richness of tribal cultural
diversity with its unique blend of food habits, lifestyle, langue, dialects and cultural values
where nature dominates a major part. The tribes existing amidst the rich bounties of nature
explore the reality of their existence in nature which is reflected in the popular folklores of
Suva Geet. The oral tradition is an integral part of the indigenous culture with its rich heritage
establishes a dialogue with nature working in tandem as an integral entity. The paper
endevours to seek the folk ontology of Suva Geet as a pen picture of tribal women's
conversation with nature.
